I was asked to make an image (a booklet cover design) that will be used to promote this year’s Wigtown Book Festival, which was due to take place in Wigtown, a Scottish town located in Dumfries and Galloway. Wigtown was officially designated as Scotland’s National Book Town in 1998 and is now home to a wide range of book-related businesses.

I emphasised the words friendly, organic, rural, eclectic, human and nature to portray the festival. I chose these elements - books, trees, nature to convey the whole idea about the celebration of book festival in this charming place – Wigtown. I didn’t have to chance to go to the Wigtown myself but I went to other parts of Scotland and did a lot of life drawings, when I came back, I did some research about Wigtown, combined the landscape style with the feeling I had got during my travel, and did some basic sketches about the booklet cover.
