ABOUT
These are the illustrations for the article 'Chanoyu and the rituals of Tea DrinkingTea ' by Stephanie Hollan. 'Chanoyu' means 'hot water for tea' and also meaning of a Japanese art form with the focus of preparing and serving bowl of tea with a pure heart.
I drew tea set on Tatami mat to explain how they prepare a tea ceremony on the front cover.
I made it with fine line drawing using simple black & white and accent of red colour to represent the atmosphere of ZEN and simplicity of Japan. I also added accent of famous cherry blossom flower to show their delicate culture.
