Kathryn Slater Creative Copywriter

ABOUT

Journey started out as some motion/style experiments that I eventually wanted to edit together into something more cohesive. After putting a rough edit together, without any explanation, I asked my wife (who happens to be a very talented writer) to try and interpret the ideas and themes I was going for and convey it in her writing. If her interpretation didn't quite align with what I was trying to say in the visuals, I knew I'd have to go back to the drawing board (and maybe give her a proper brief). But brilliantly, and testament to her writing skills, she nailed it first time round. Not only that, once I'd added her words as text over the visuals, the project felt so much more elevated and substantial – no longer simply a display of alluring visuals, but a conceptual, technicolour exploration of the soul.

We took it in turns reading the words aloud to each other, and realised neither of us could do the poem justice. So we employed the talents of voice actor, Paul Casselle whose tone was perfectly aligned with our creative vision.
