ABOUT

THE CHALLENGE
Marie Curie UK required a refreshed look to their Annual Report for 2018/19 - an evolution from their previous reports, but with a new feel to reflect their rejuvenated ambition as a charity. It needed to engage existing and new supporters and beneficiaries, whilst stay true to their people-focussed brand and functioning as a formal report.

THE SOLUTION
I led on the creative development and design of the report, exploring and presenting three distinct routes. The final concept is based on the art and story of Sarah Ezekiel, who is living with Motor Neurone Disease and is a regular attendee at the Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead.

Through going to art therapy sessions at the hospice, she found a love and talent for producing art, pushing the boundaries with Eye Gaze technology, which allows her to create artwork with her eyes. The visual style of the report is based on one of her artworks, 'Daffodils', which she created while sitting in the hospice garden looking at the daffodils. I've echoed this style with splashes of watercolour throughout the document to bring her story to life.

To aid a more readable experience, I introduced stronger navigation through side tabs and colour coding, which divides the three sections of the report in a clear and user-friendly way. I worked closely with one of Marie Curie's Senior Editors.
