ABOUT

Honouring National Whiskey Day with 'Uncle Nearest,' a tribute to the legendary Nathan 'Uncle Nearest' Green, the first African-American master distiller. Who taught Mr Jack Daniels the craftsmanship of distilling whiskey and has made it what it is today.
Each sip of Uncle Nearest is a journey of heritage and passion, curated by Fawn Weaver, CEO and founder of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. T
This is a long term project that I started during and around the death of George Floyd. Since the death of Goerge Floyd I made a vow that I would shop with black owned businesses first before going to the usual high street stores. Another way of supporting black owned business was through my photography. Which is how this project came about. I would use national days like National Whiskey Day and celebrate it but using black owned products.
Doing this has really opened my eyes to just how much black owned businesses are out there and contribute financially to the UK economy. I am hoping that by doing this project it sheds light on black owned businesses and brings a visual representation to young black and upcoming entrepreneurs.
