ABOUT

This design is a response to the “Kinfolk” trend report by Porter&Brawn, which was a part of the MIID Winter School’s 21 Advanced Track. It explored emerging “maximalist” trend that blends folky, artisan and bohemian influences in an eclectic and striking mix. The theme wholeheartedly embraces a desire for the invigorating novelty, attempting to regain a sense of individuality after a decade of trends that, more often, have tended towards minimalism.

Thus, this surface print is coloured in a clashing bold palette of vibrant pinks juxtaposed with deep verdant greens. All its elements are hand drawn in a sketchbook and crafted into whimsical and stylised botanicals. The result is an exuberant, highly decorative floral pattern perfect for a print for a cushion and other soft furnishings.
