How can handwritten gesture transform a collage into a narrative?
Fragments of Meaning explores the relationship between collage, typography and visual storytelling. By combining found imagery with expressive handwritten calligraphy, each composition moves beyond illustration, creating emotional narratives that invite interpretation rather than provide answers.The handwritten marks are not intended to be read as text alone. They become movement, rhythm and visual structure -connecting otherwise unrelated elements into a single expressive composition.
The objective was to create a series of contemporary poster designs that combined analogue-inspired collage with expressive calligraphy.Rather than relying on typography as a functional element, the project explores handwriting as a visual language capable of shaping emotion, composition and narrative.Each poster begins with a carefully curated collage of photographs, textures and symbolic objects. Handwritten calligraphy is then layered across the composition - not to describe the imagery, but to become part of it.The interaction between gesture, negative space and fragmented visuals creates compositions that encourage multiple interpretations while maintaining a cohesive visual rhythm.
