ABOUT

A sculptural pendant light, made from bioplastic, aluminum, and stainless steel.

My inspiration came from nature; the sinuous nature of a spine as it moves, with ribs wrapped around it, and also the verdant lushness and texture of a jungle, and the way dappled light comes through the foliage.

I made the bioplastic with coffee grounds, infusing a beautiful textural quality and color to the plastic. I then formed the plastic around a spiral armature interspersed with stainless steel.

It was shown at the New York Coffee Art Festival 2016.
