In my free time I decided to do a project that involved creating a 3D Car Model of a Mini Cooper. I have been using the program 3DS Max 2017 to create the Car Model. The technique I used to model the car is called Edge Modelling. Before I created the car body I looked online for blueprints of the Mini Cooper.

Once I found these blueprints I then cropped them in Photoshop and imported them into 3DS Max as Planes. I then lined up all the blueprints together. Once this was done I proceeded to do the 3D Modelling. I initially started off with the cylinder to create the Wheel Arch. I then converted it to an editable poly and created more edges for the rest of the car body. I then used the vertices to match the edges with the blueprints of the Mini Cooper. Once this was I applied the Mesh Smooth modifier to the car body to make the 3D model look more smooth.I used this technique to create the half of the Car body. To create the other half I used the Symmetry modifier.

I have almost got the Car body finished. I just have to smooth out some edges. Once I have done this I will then finish the rest of the 3D Model (basically the tyres, steering wheel, car lights, exhaust and number plate).
