ABOUT

The stark contrast of white against black not only inverts traditional color norms but also symbolizes the emergence of light from darkness, past from future, and the known from the unknown.

The use of white on black allows for a raw, direct expression of emotion, where each stroke and splash of paint conveys feelings of liberation, empowerment, and sometimes, the chaos of transition. This technique amplifies the expressive qualities of the art, making each piece a visceral experience that challenges the viewer to feel and interpret the African narrative in a new light.

The choice of black paper as the canvas reflects the void of space, the depth of history, and the canvas of the night sky, where all futures are possible. The white crayon and paint serve not only as tools but as metaphors for illumination, enlightenment, and the marking of new territories in art and thought.

Through this series, I aim to provoke thought, inspire dialogue, and celebrate the endless possibilities of Black futures, using the simplicity and purity of white against the profound backdrop of black to speak volumes about identity, legacy, and the journey ahead.
