My client, a digital agency owner and business consultant, set up a new company to advise businesses on their digital marketing strategies and commissioned me to design a logo for the business. The brief: the logo should be elegant, symmetrical and based on geometry, specifically sacred geometry. The concept of 'wuwei' should also be referenced in some way. Wuwei is an ancient Chinese term which loosely translated means 'effortless action'.

So, how to design a logo without 'designing' it, i.e. design by wuwei. I took the numbers in the clients birthday and added them together to get the number 2002, fortunately this is a symmetrical number which I decided to work with. The number 2 if written as roman numerals or the Chinese way is written as 2 lines, which gives me II00II. I took this figure and duplicated it and rotated by 90 degrees and this has given me the basic logo design.

The concept hear is that I have taken the information given to me and translated it into a logo with very little design input therefore giving me the simple, elegant and symmetrical design which the client requested which is also based on the concept of wuwei.
