ABOUT

The brief: to art direct and design front cover for an edition of Bazaar magazine. This edition was very much centered (if not exclusively) around the contribution that black people have made to the world of art, design, film and music. I wanted to incorporate gold in some way reflecting the excellence of the individuals showcased in this issue. A black model who specialised in body painting was used to create the amazing effect shown here. The elegant gold necklace was the only addition to the paint. Make-up took around 4 hours with another 2 hours of photography. The model was a real trouper and I could not have been more wonderful. And my go-to photographer provided this superb image for publication.
