Julian is a production accountant, and producer, with experience in animation, children's television, commercial, digital, documentary, feature-length, music-production, and web. To date, over a twenty-year career, he has overseen more than $50m in television production budgets and $15m of factual documentaries.
With experience in a variety industry sectors, Julian predominantly provided production accounting services on factual documentary for the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, and the Travel Channel in America. Julian has also contracted, or worked with, industry institutions: (BAFTA, PACT), content-funders (Goldfinch Entertainment), acquisition/distribution (HiT Entertainment, OFF THE FENCE) and launched a media focused foreign exchange company.
Julian has independently raised production finance and has experience with funding applications, co-production finance, company formation, the Enterprise Initiative Scheme, Film Tax Relief, forecasting, international co-production finance, private equity investment, royalties, soft money and every has been shortlisted for the MipDoc Co-Production Pitch in Cannes every time entered.
Production experience is global with projects located all over the world including: Afghanistan, the Amazon, America the Arctic, the Bahamas, Bosnia, the Caucasus, China, the DMRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Irian Jaya, Myanmar, Namibia, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, South Waziristan, Sudan, Tibet and Zimbabwe.
Julian was the Head of Communications on the launch of the UK Government's digital innovation platform ICTomorrow, being the conduit between app developers and content owners including the BBC, The British Museum, Endemol, Freemantle, ITV, National Geographic and the Telegraph.
As well as producing content for television, Julian has had a parallel career in digital content and new media, working with clients that include BOC, Coca Cola, L'Oreal, Jaguar Land Rover, Network Rail, Vodafone and Qualcom. Julian also created content for GetSafeOnline the Governments consumer-facing cyber security initiative, which led to writing proposals for the Banking Community of Ireland and the New York Police Department.
Julian is a World Record holder and charity fundraiser (Aegis Trust - UK's leading anti-genocide NGO, Blind Veterans UK, Refuge, Shelter, War Child, Windsor Homeless Project and the Wooden Spoon Charity) and event director with experience in managing art exhibitions, film festivals, music festivals and sports tournaments.
Since 2015 Julian has been mentoring film students in the UK and overseas, via film projects, lectures, work experience and production workshops leading to an invitation to participate in a UN WOMEN Panel 'Women in Film,' Bharia University, Islamabad) and a Fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts.
