About me
I am a copy editor and writer with eight years', mostly freelance experience working for a very wide variety of magazine and book publishers and national charities on everything from magazines to multi-volume encyclopedias. I have tended to specialise in the humanities, in particular most recently the visual arts, but I feel capable of understanding and communicating (or as an editor helping to communicate) any subject whose transmission is aimed at the general reader.
Having also completed two years' postgraduate translation training - which was also the best editorial training a person could wish for - I would describe myself as a capable translator of both French and Spanish, though I would not say I can speak either language like a native.
Over the years, I have worked closely with a number of authors on improving their books, and with a number of editors on pieces I have written for magazines and other publications, and have found them without exception to be grateful for my work. I take this positive feedback to mean that I am a competent editor and writer.
