ABOUT

Brief

The brief was to refresh the visual identity of ISTD. This could incorporate the adoption of a new logo but such a fundamental change of identity would demand a strong supporting strategy articulating the benefits as well as the visual material to illustrate that.

Inspiration

As well as design one main logo for the society I created a series/ variations of the logo. The reason behind the three variations of the main logo is because ISTD is a society. The society consists of male and female graduates, student audience and the main male founders. The logos are not intentionally splitting the society up into factions; but taken into account there’s more than one audience, many different people that are different in sex and occupation which is part of ISTD. With the variations are wanted each member to be individual or unique and have a say in creativity and typography in the International Society of typographic designers.

Output

The three variations of the logos consist of male, female and student audience. Each represented by the unique shape and colour. The shape within the logo is overlapped, the reason behind this is because it gives a sense of dimension and also with my research has an abstract view of thicknesses, depth (from the colour) and weight, which can be represented with type that also can be different in thickness, and weight. The other reason is the variation in colour, when the transparent shape is overlapped with the same colour more variations of that colour will appear e.g. A spectrum of colours. This brings depth to the logo and makes it eye catching and appealing for the audience
