The core XBOX team were looking for a way to distribute video game review codes for pre-release games on the game changing next-generation console, XBOX One. The current process for delivering these codes to video game reviewers was by email which was extremely insecure and time-consuming keeping track of who has what code and whether a code has been redeemed or not. I was the lead designer and developer on this project whilst working for Edelman UK.
Secure distribution with a new website design and back-end functionalityThe new process for code distribution had to be secure, streamlined, branded for XBOX, allow Microsoft to keep track of what code had been given to who, and allow gaming influencers to keep track of what game codes they have been given - all being stored in a secure account driven web app.
Seamlessly plugging in our UI designThe application had to adhere to the latest XBOX brand design language. It also had to be easy to navigate, find a code and also advertise the games in a way that really welcome the reviewers into firing up the game and get playing.
Two journeysThere are two separate logins to the web application, the administration section for the XBOX team, where administrators input game influencer details and assign unique distribution codes each game and influencer. The app included a create a campaign area where official game information and content would be uploaded - almost like a micro site for each game.
