ABOUT
Ning, inspired by the Ming-style rounded-back armchair. In Mandarin, Ning has multiple meanings attached to the word. Ning as a noun is an ancient family surname; as a verb, it means the act of wishing and hoping; in the form of an adjective, it expresses a state of peacefulness and tranquility.
The silhouette of Ning is inspired by curves of the female body - The sculptural surfaces of straight back and round arm, which is an intermediary to the curves of the human body and the seat. According to contemporary modern scenarios, 7 different typologies of chairs were designed.
The collection provides the distinguished joint structure for module design to PRAXIS “conserve heritage”. It reveals the possibility of module design for ancient, poetic silhouettes by combining sculptural, sentential form.
