ABOUT

A BRIDGE TOO FAR
Akashi is a remarkable bridge-building robot.
Give him two sides and he can always find a way to join them. Streams, roads, walls and muddy puddles are no problem—so when Akashi notices how far away the Moon is, he decides it simply needs a very, very, very long bridge.
From the Moon, Akashi sees pollution, disappearing forests and people divided across the Earth. Believing that more bridges will bring everyone closer, he builds until the world is tangled beneath them. But when he tightens the enormous bridge between Earth and the Moon, he accidentally sends the Moon swinging through space.
The impact splits Earth in two.
A Bridge Too Far explores the difference between fixing things and genuinely helping people. Akashi eventually discovers that the bridges capable of mending a world are built with kindness, listening, cooperation and care.
Copper, wire, wood, buttons, riveted metal and stitched landscapes give Akashi’s adventure a rich handmade quality, moving from playful invention to spectacular cosmic disaster and finally to quiet hope.
The third part of The Merry-Go-Round Series, the story reveals the cause of the event that begins FRIMPONG.
Three stories. One circle. Start anywhere.
