ABOUT

This series was created to evoke the violent ritual of bottle destruction carried out by US Customs officers during the Prohibition era of the 1930s.
Referencing archival imagery of confiscated alcohol being smashed and discarded, the photographs freeze the moment of impact; glass shattering; liquid exploding; and labels torn mid-motion ; transforming an act of enforcement into a visceral still life.
Shot with high-speed techniques and controlled lighting, the work treats destruction as subject matter, echoing the defiance and volatility that defined Cutty Sark Prohibition, and capturing a single, irreversible moment where history, violence and liquid collide.
