About me

Jon Flannery is a highly awarded creative and widely recognized for his ability to combine commerce and creativity to create work that drives culture and the marketplace. He joined Edelman Chicago as chief creative officer (CCO) in 2020. He came from DDB where he most recently served as executive creative director leading the Capital One business from the Chicago and NY offices.
Prior to that, he spent 10 years at FCB Chicago and Toronto, where he played a key
role in transforming the agency into a creative powerhouse. As CCO of FCB Toronto, Jon oversaw both the creative and production departments, and led Cannes-winning work like "Down Syndrome Answers" for the Canadian Down Syndrome Society and "Nobody's Memories" for PFLAG. On his return to FCB Chicago, Jon was creative lead on Jeep, Fiat, Chrysler, and Alpha Romeo projects at the agency and also served as ECD on Michelob Ultra, where his work culminated in three commercials appearing in the 2019 Super Bowl.
Previously at FCB Chicago, he architected a 120-member creative department and was a driving force behind Kmart's lauded "Ship My Pants" and "Big Gas Savings" campaigns. Jon spent his formative years at Leo Burnett, where he worked with Sony, Samsung and more. He was also a founding member of Element 79, where he was creative lead on Gatorade, overseeing some of the brand's most recognized work.
Over the span of 25 years, Jon has been earned every major award in the industry including over 30 Cannes Lions, One Show and D&AD Pencils along with three Grand Effies.
At Edelman, Jon brings impactful earned creative campaigns to life, working with a diverse roster of well-known clients, including PetCo, Clif Bar, Frito Lay, SCJ, Barilla, Melissa + Doug and more.
