Lead front-end engineer for Virgin Atlantic’s Digital First Browse team, working on the strategic replatforming of content-heavy customer journeys from a legacy monolith to a modern headless architecture.

The work centred on rebuilding key areas of the airline’s digital estate using Next.js, React, AEM, and a shared component system, with a focus on performance, maintainability, accessibility, and operational reliability. I led front-end architecture decisions, helped shape reusable delivery patterns, and worked across product, design, engineering, QA, and content teams to reduce platform risk during a high-visibility transformation.

The new homepage launched in 2023 with a substantial performance improvement, reducing load times from around nine seconds to under three seconds. The wider replatforming work supported greater traffic resilience, faster delivery of content-led pages, and a cleaner engineering foundation for future customer journeys.
