As a User Researcher at HL you’ll help more than 1.2 million people save and invest with confidence. Our team is growing. We’re looking for User Researchers who will foster a company-wide empathetic understanding of our clients. You’ll be discovering how and why people save and invest - and exploring the opportunities this presents.
User Researchers at HL work closely with Product Owners, UX Designers, Content Designers, and Developers to gain a deep understanding of our clients. You’ll plan, design, and conduct a range of user research activities to help your team gain the confidence they need to make evidence-based design decisions.
As we build on our success, user research is becoming a core part of our multi-disciplinary, agile approach to putting our clients at the heart of everything we do.
The role:
Working as a User Researcher with HL, you’ll:
- Plan and conduct user research to provide a robust basis for design decision-making.
- Work in an agile team to turn research findings into actions.
- Help team members define research goals and user-centric measures of success.
- Advocate users and their needs within the team and across the business.
- Encourage a culture of team involvement in user research.
- Collaborate with other User Researchers to shape how we do user research at HL.
Requirements:
Skills and Experience:
We want to see evidence that you:
- have 2+ years’experience in a user research role.
- are able to use a range of qualitative research methods to reveal actionable insights.
- can own the usability testing process, from recruitment to facilitation, through to analysis and sharing the resulting insight.
- adopt a principled, rigorous approach to research, coupled with enough pragmatism to adapt to imperfect circumstances.
- feel comfortable not having all the answers, but you're confident in your ability to gain confidence in design decisions through user research.
- possess excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- are inherently curious about people and their behaviour.
- have a knack for questioning assumptions.
Desirable experience:
It's not essential, but we’d love it if you have:
- a degree in Psychology, UX Design, Human Factors, or other relevant discipline.
- experience of designing, distributing, and analysing online questionnaires.
- gathered, interpreted, and analysed quantitative behavioural data.
- experience of accessibility testing.
- iteratively tested and improved transactional digital services.
- worked as part of an agile, multi-disciplinary team.
- advocated and shaped user research practice within a business.
- mentored junior User Researchers.
