More about the role:

We’re New Look and we’ve been at the forefront of British high-street fashion since 1969. Over the last 50 years, we’ve grown to be a global, multichannel brand offering on-trend, value-driven fashion for women, men, girls and boys.

Our passion is feel-good fashion at feel-good prices – and we truly believe that all starts with us. Our values inspire us every day: we play to win, we’re customer-obsessed and we work as one to give each and every one of our customers That New Look Feeling.

It's a busy and exciting time for the brand and we’re on the hunt for a UX Design Manager to join our growing Digital Team.

The Team:

Our Digital Team don't accept the status quo, they think disruptively about Technology and how we can use it. We collaborate with the business to deliver Digital Design solutions that support our business ambition to be the leading omnichannel retailer. By focusing on innovative Design Solutions, we're creating and ensuring our choices suit the product and project ambitions.

The Role:

You’ll be responsible for leading and managing our talented UX Design team, who are accountable for ensuring our customers have delightful browsing and buying experience through our digital products.

  • You’ll help for how we do product design at New Look – championing customers and putting their pain points at the heart of everything we do.
  • Line manage - 6 designers – bringing the best out of them, by knowing when (and how) to coach, mentor or teach given the situation at hand.
  • Provide regular empathetic feedback to your team on their performance, helping them to develop clear career development goals and action plans on how to achieve them
  • Help the team align our stakeholders through excellent communication and collaborative workshops.
  • Ensure that the design community is staffed with the right people and skills for the business’ needs
  • An expert in product discovery, agile methodologies (such as Scrum and Kanban) and an interest in behavioural psychology.
  • You’re an excellent manager of designers, who has received rave reviews as a servant leader, due to your abilities to inspire and empower colleagues.
  • You have the technical competence, communication and leadership skills needed to coach the members of your team at every level
  • You're an advocate for cross-functional ways of working and set clear expectations for how design should operate in that model
  • Able to understand and discuss technical concepts, so you’re able to lead on discussion around potential trade-offs of new ideas, with a focus on speed of delivery.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in challenging environments. You can simplify complex ideas and maximise business value.
  • You’ve established a multi-disciplined design community in the past and have ideas for how a modern design function should operate
  • You create a positive team spirit, focus on team engagement and embody the New Look values.
  • You'll demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written form. An expert in the power of Slack to drive asynchronous communication and culture change.
