The Design Manager is responsible for leading and guiding the Womenswear Casual Design team to create innovative, on trend, commercial designs for the Urban Outfitters customer - including developing our inhouse brands IETS Frans and BDG.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Joint management of the Womenswear design team, with direct management of the ‘casual’ sector (denim, pants, outerwear)
• Responsible, along with assigned team members, for developing and continually driving our in-house brands BDG & iets frans, from concept & colour, through to finalised product. Consideration should be given to seasonal drops & wholesale timeline and critical path.
• Leading and motivating a team of varying levels, monitoring progress, and developing by giving design and strategic direction. Conducting appraisals and objective setting to ensure team progression.
• Driving emerging messages, ensuring product & direction is continually elevated & teams inspired.
• Utilising diarised ‘Tare Shares’, work with the Head of Design to identify & build seasonal trend, print & colour stories. An ability to address multiple ‘sensibilities’ & an ‘on brand’ aesthetic is essential to the success of this. 
• Presentation to directors and, in-turn, wider teams to ensure understanding of aesthetic.
• Overseeing ranges across the UK and Europe as well as our online and wholesale offerings.
• Overseeing designs of garments for all phases and seasons, giving direction to senior and junior designers, initiating and leading seasonal sketch reviews
• Keeping abreast of current season sales and create fast-react product in season to meet demands.
• Work across multi-functions e.g. creative/studio & graphics to ensure elevated & consistent branding/messages.


What You’ll Need:
• Understanding of Urban Outfitters as a trend maker and leader, with the know how to take the brand to the next level.
• Portfolio should be very directional and demonstrate an ability to think outside the box.
• Be very detailed from concept stage through to specs and final designs.
• International collection experience.
• Excellent sourcing knowledge and experience working with global supply base.
• Ability to inspire others through your own actions and provide mentoring and training where needed.
• Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to identify new opportunities with exceptional communication and presentation skills at all levels.
