Following our IPO in 2014, Just Eat is now well established as one of the most successful, innovative and high growth technology companies in Europe, with year-on-year order growth of over 50%. Just Eat is the clear global leader in the online takeaway ordering sector–processing millions of orders across the globe, with a clear #1 position in all of these.
We have achieved this by building a growing network of tens of thousands of restaurant partners and continuing to commit major investment into our technology platform, our brand and our people. Just Eat is now firmly established as one of the UK’s leading consumer brands, we are all about choice and are helping the nation ‘find your flavour' as we embark on creating the world's greatest food community.
Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Globally we have 2,900+ Just Eaters. They embody our values: Make Happy, Razor Sharp and Big Hearted. We truly believe it’s the people that make Just Eat the great company it is. We have an incredibly open culture. We’re about making everyone feel comfortable, sharing ideas and trying out new things.
It's our job to understand and serve the Just Eat customer. Who are the people that come to Just Eat to buy their meals online? What do they need? What can we do to make their experiences better? Our Technology department is revolutionising the way people interact with food online every day by exploring new channels, such as voice-controlled ordering and virtual reality. Our team also collaborates with other internal departments to make sure our products and tech are tailor made from top insights and industry expertise.
Just Eat is looking to hire an exceptional UI Designer to join our Product Development Team and help drive the design and visual direction of our products and services. UI design is a key ingredient in our mission to build the world’s greatest food community and you'll be integral to our success.
This role will be working with the restaurant side of our business - working with our restaurant partners and their staff to help make getting food from the restaurant to customers’ doorsteps as easy as possible. We have a diverse set of products for our partners going from web-based dashboards that help track how Just Eat is helping a restaurant owner’s business, to complex apps for taking orders and coordinating delivery drivers - all in an effort to help make our partners successful and our customers get their yummy food faster.
Over the past year, we have been working incredibly hard to transform our products and services to make them better than ever before - and we are just getting started. Now, we are looking for someone else to join us on our journey and help take our products to the next level.
At Just Eat, we work in cross-functional fast-paced up of UI Designers, UX Designers, Product Managers and Engineers. The way we work is collaborative and fast-paced. We want to discover what our users will love as soon as we can. We like to explore problems in-depth and we like to get our users in to speak with us every 2 weeks, to explore what we are working on and help us understand their needs.
Work and projects for this role include working with UX designers to design and create the UI for new features and product updates, taking charge of individual projects ranging from component design, new feature flows/experience, to brand development and implementation.
This role works on a little bit of everything while also helping to improve our overall UI and brand implementation. Responsibilities would include:
Producing visual / UI designs for product feature updates and brand-related projects, across multiple workstreams.
Collaborating on the development of the UI based on our core digital brand.
Collaborating with User Researchers and UX Designers.
Prototyping high fidelity UI, and communicating the detail of these interactions to development.
Experience working with, and contributing to design systems and component libraries.
Ensuring your work is implemented as true to the design as possible.
Help improve visual design processes and set UI documentation standards.
Assisting other UI designers on other UI discipline projects.
Collaborating and contributing within the restaurant team and the larger UX function within Just Eat.
Researching and presenting UI and brand-related innovations out in the industry for the team to consider.
We are looking for a UI Designer who can take the design of products to the next level–someone who can create beautiful and intuitive user interfaces. While much of your time will be spent working directly on problems, you will also be joining a team of 30 creatives, made up UI Designers, UX Designers, User Researchers and Copywriters.
We’re looking for someone with a good range of skills who is flexible, collaborative, contributive and keen to learn. If you are very focused on craft and delivery of great UI, if you like to push and innovate brands within the digital space, and if you keep up with the latest discipline and platform innovations and trends, we really want you on our team.
We think this job might be for you if:
You care about creating great solutions that delight and inspire users.
You like working directly with UX Designers, Product Managers and Engineers to create inspiring solutions.
You like working on problems, rather than features.
You are keen to have users view your ideas, concepts and work regularly.
You like working client-side but are keen to see your work released quickly and regularly.
Skills & Experience:
You recognise that the design and build of any product is a team effort and that consistency is as important as creativity. You collaborate well with User Researchers, UX designers, other UI designers and the development team to help ensure the best product is being produced.
You check in with the Creative Director, and the wider team members on a regular basis to ensure you’re going down the right track with your projects. You can present well both within the UX & Design team and to non-creative stakeholders. You are familiar with how digital brands are developed as well as how to follow and develop UI design style guides.
Demonstrable UI or digital visual design experience.
Experience designing for complex applications.
Experience designing user interface for both one app platform (iOS or Android) and responsive web
High fidelity prototyping skills (Principle, Framer etc.).
Experience, or desire to work in a growing & collaborative team of designers.
A solid understanding of capabilities and limitations of technologies that are used to create powerful interactive experiences.
Working knowledge of UX required; enough to question and challenge UX designers' recommendations and to recommend better UI or interaction alternatives.
Experience designing for international brands or multi-lingual digital products.
Experience designing for in-store tablets is a big plus.
