Since 1869, our customers have been at the heart of what we do. Today those customers number in the millions and it's our privilege to design exceptional experiences for them.

That could be tonight's dinner from Sainsbury's. The perfect present (for you or someone else) from Argos. Styling your home with Habitat. Finding the perfect outfit at Tu. And financial support from Sainsbury's Bank, all whilst getting rewards through Nectar.

Why join us?

We know that great experiences aren't created by accident. That's why we've built a large, diverse and inclusive team. It may be surprising but there are 80 of us. From UX to service designers. Copywriters to researchers and accessibility specialists. Together, we craft exceptional products and services across all our brands and channels. We make things better, and we're respected across the group for the impact we have.

Did we mention that we're an award-winning team? At the Grocer Gold Awards 2021, we won E-commerce Initiative of the Year. Our work helped elderly, vulnerable and disabled customers through the pandemic. It gave them priority access to home delivery slots. We also won Technology Initiative of the Year.

What we offer:

  • A mix of home and office working
  • Flexible hours
  • Colleague discount at Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat
  • Bonus scheme
  • Holiday allowance
  • Pension plan
  • Special offers on gyms, restaurants, holidays, vouchers and more

The Role:

You'll be working on Nectar, within our Loyalty and In-store team.

With 17 million customers, Nectar is the UK's largest loyalty scheme, but there's more to us than points. Nectar flows through our business from where we source our products to customers’ homes.

We work with hundreds of partners across retail, travel and more. These include some of the UK's favourite brands, such as Argos and eBay. Together, we're on a journey to transform these experiences.

Two of our focus areas are:

Our Digital Trading Platform which supports our partners. It provides them with new ways to engage customers across Google, Facebook and Instagram
Our new Insight Platform which supports colleagues and partners managing our product range. This helps us offer more enticing, healthier and sustainable products

Your aim will be to understand our partners, how they work and the problems they face. You'll learn the wider context of how our stores and business works. You'll also learn how data and machine-learning can support our suppliers and customers.

It's an exciting time as we're on a mission to reimagine loyalty.

What you'll do:

  • Craft elegant and user-centred reports, functional illustrations, and icons
  • Contribute to the evolving design system by creating new components
  • Work closely with UX designer to deliver an industry leading insight platform
  • Usability testing and iterative design improvements
  • Interact with engineers to embedded to patterns and components across the group
  • Collaborate with diverse teams from different disciplines
  • Champion inclusive design principles in your work and throughout the team

What we're looking for:

Industry experience as a UI or Product designer is essential, preferably with experience in a B2B role. Alongside this, we're looking for certain behaviours and competency skills. These skills will help you thrive in a dynamic team like ours.

Skills we're looking for:

  • Expertise designing with tools such as Figma
  • Previously worked on internal tools or dashboards
  • UCD approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge of how to design inclusively
  • Confidence challenging your peers and stakeholders
  • Taking the initiative and driving change2
  • Tailoring your approach for different audiences

Our interview process is simple. We'll review your CV and portfolio before inviting you to interview. We have 2 interviews. The first is between 45-60 mins; it's a chance for us to learn about each other. The second is around 1 hour 30 minutes. You'll present a project and talk through your process. We'll then ask behaviour and competency questions.

Work-life balance is important to us, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role. We trust them to decide how, where and when they work, combining remote and collaborative working with a flexible approach to hours, giving them plenty of time and space for life outside of work whilst delivering against our business goals.
