We have an exciting trainee opportunity in the UX team here at NEXT!

The Next UX team is made up of circa 60 digital experts in 4 disciplines. The role available will be within one of the following teams:

  • Design (UX / UI) - If you love design, have an intrigue for customer behaviour and an eye for detail, then you sound like just the sort of person we’re looking for. You will learn about customer behaviour, friction points, how to effectively wireframe new ideas, work with cutting edge design systems and create beautiful visuals whilst considering the customer at every step.
  • Optimisation - Test, learn and analyse! This is the core value in our team where optimisation is at the forefront of the business. Join a dedicated team who look to A/B test new features on our websites and apps to understand what customers prefer - this could be the colour of a button or this could be a whole new feature like stock checker! Join our team to project manage a test through from just an idea to building it and testing it with customers, watching their reactions. And if it wins, let’s get it built!
  • Innovation - For those who prefer to pave the way forward rather than follow in the footsteps of others, this team may be your calling! Alongside an understanding of consumer needs and the competitor market, Innovation gives you the opportunity to find original solutions by utilising the latest in consumer and retail technology. Research, plan, and test these new concepts with a real consumer base by learning how to effectively manage projects and assist with the development process.
  • Research - Working in a fast paced, collaborative culture, the UX researcher plays a key role to inform and inspire the user experiences we create, ensuring they are useful, usable and valuable for customers. Providing key insight into our competitors, to enable the wider User experience team to deliver best-in-class user experience solutions across all brands, web and mobile. We will work on proposing, planning, facilitating and analysis results from usability testing and competitor benchmarking. We will also identify opportunities and propose suitable research methods.

These teams are highly skilled, ambitious with lots of energy, they work fast but with great attention to detail. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers!

You will (not an exhaustive list):

  • You will work closely with other departments including user research and data science to understand customer behaviour.
  • Master brand guidelines and design systems.
  • Learn how to create frictionless customer journeys.
  • Level up your skills in the latest industry software.
  • Become an expert in web standards and responsive design.
  • Collaborate daily with an elite team of highly experienced professionals and set yourself on a path to becoming best in class.
  • You will present back to Management about tests you have carried out, results and next steps.

About you:

  • You will be a recent digital, creative, business or IT graduate with, ideally, a year in industry, although this is not essential
  • You will be a proactive self-starter who works well in a fast paced digital environment
  • You will be self-motivated & highly organised with the ability to adapt to a changing environment and stay calm under pressure
  • You will be creative and inquisitive with a thirst to learn more
  • You will have attention to detail
  • You will be able to take direction and deliver tasks accordingly
  • You will be an effective team player; can do attitude
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skill
