Position at Creative Assembly.

As a Trainee concept artist on the ‘Total War’ franchise (working with your lead and your team) you will create clear and concise concept art that will serve as the ground work for a wide range of character, environment and VFX assets across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Trainee Concept Artist, you will create character, environment and VFX concepts that are used by the wider art team as the basis for creating in-game assets. In this role, you may also create illustrations and UI icons for the game, depending on your areas of interest and skills.

Working closely with the Project Art Director, you will learn to work within set time constraints and to hit the quality benchmark for the project whilst taking on board and implementing feedback as and when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
Essential:

  • A portfolio of concept work, which may also include illustrations, UI icons, storyboards and other 2d work.
  • Understanding of design methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop.
  • Team focused with strong communication skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.

Desirable:

  • Design education, such as product design, graphic design or architecture.
  • Experience with 3d art tools, such as blender or zbrush.
  • Understanding of the state of the art in games, and of gameplay.

These traineeships are paid placements and all applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK.
