Sub-Editor

We’re looking for a Sub-Editor to join LADbible Group’s editorial team. You will be responsible for ensuring our journalists deliver high-quality content that is factually correct, on-brand and water-tight against legal issues.

An interest in news, people stories, comedy, lifestyle, sport, travel, music, tech and gaming is desirable as the editorial team works across various LADbible Group brands.

Experience of working with agencies or external creators would also be a plus, but isn’t essential.

What will you be doing?

• Editing and proofreading articles and social packaging
• Fact-checking.
• Increasing accuracy, credibility and depth of stories.
• Quality control and safeguarding copy against legal and ethical issues
• Staying across potentially sensitive content and escalating to department heads where necessary.
• Liaising with journalists and senior content heads.
• Helping drive editorial tone of the brands.
• Hitting tight schedules in a fast-paced, creative environment

What do you need to have done before?

• Previous experience of Sub Editing
• Qualification or on-the-job training in Journalism or Sub-Editing is desirable
• Confident working quickly and accurately to various deadlines
• A high standard of written English
• Outstanding proofreading and editing skills
• Fast and accurate research skills
• Expertise in media law
• Newsroom experience preferable

Must have?

• NCTJ qualified.
