Job Description:

Be a key player in creating the Nordstrom Rack look and feel in stores. The Senior Designer / Planner is responsible for the Nordstrom Rack store layout and design. They direct and perform spatial planning and design for capital spend and non-spend projects. 


A day in the life:

  • Create block plans for new, remodel or small projects in Nordstrom Rack stores by partnering with internal business units and company leaders to achieve the strategies and vision to support Company ambitions.
  • Lead the blockplanning and design process by executing and evolving standards, tools and processes to ensure goals are being met.
  • Partner with management and others to anticipate future business challenges and proactively develop and implement new ideas.
  • Be flexible and think outside the box.
  • Support all internal and external partners in navigating Store Design and overall Company work flow including problem solving, educating and training.
  • Collaborate in a team environment and with all partners and leaders to ensure outcomes align with priorities and objectives of a project.
  • Show continual assessment and evaluation of goals and track progress.
  • Lead a small group by demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities.


You own this if you have:

  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in retail space planning or other interior design field including advancement to roles with greater responsibility or management roles.
  • 2+ years of management experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently but also collaborate in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of AutoCAD software and proficiency in Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and understanding of architectural drawings.
  • Excellent and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to set clear direction and meet deadlines.
