Sony Bend Studio, the creator of Days Gone, Syphon Filter and Uncharted: Golden Abyss, is looking for top talent to join our in passionate team.

We are seeking a Senior Staff FX Artist who will be responsible for creating FX and defining processes that assist in all areas of special effects creation. This person will be working closely with the VFX Supervisor and the FX Team.


  • Research and gather reference for each new task to open discussions and merge your vision with that of the directors.
  • Create world class art in external 3d packages and bring it to life inside our game engine.
  • Fine tune your work to communicate excitement, emotion, and action to the player with each effect.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback within the team to inspire artistic and technical growth.
  • Collaborate with directors to address feedback quickly and effectively.
  • Work with your team to troubleshoot FX related issues in a timely manner and maintain your implementations throughout production.
  • Optimize each effect to work within the performance parameters of the most current Playstation console and maintain mind-blowing visual quality.


  • Ability to author creative material solutions for use in dynamic FX.
  • Ability to utilize a variety methods to create FX assets that can be lit in real-time inside a game engine.
  • Demo reel or portfolio of recent professional work with a breakdown detailing your contribution.
  • Experience using fluid, particle, and rigid body simulation to create realistic FX in 3d packages such as Houdini, Maya, or 3dsMax.
  • Ability to work well within a team as a key artistic and technical contributor.
  • A desire to learn and grow with new techniques in a rapidly evolving discipline.
  • Multiple shipped AAA games and/or Films as an FX artist/TD.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Unreal 4.
  • Experience using Houdini in a professional production environment.
  • Experience building and maintaining FX tools/Rigs.
  • Basic knowledge of python and/or C++.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
