The New York Times Video Unit is looking for a Senior Producer who can help lead a team in creating groundbreaking, must-see digital news video. We want a talented storyteller with a track record of innovation who can lead a team producing original news video across a range of subjects.
The candidate should demonstrate a strong ability to work autonomously and identify critical news and storytelling opportunities across all aspects of politics, from the dynamics in a swing county to national trends that might swing the election.
The person in this role will work closely with the team executive producer in managing a group of producers and setting the editorial agenda. He/she will be responsible for developing and overseeing politics-related news and event coverage, as enterprise projects shows/series, as well as social content and occasional breaking news coverage. We are looking for a proven leader who can communicate effectively with editors, producers, senior leadership, journalists, on-camera talent, crew and freelancers.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of making sound editorial decisions, managing other journalists and will serve as a go-to resource for colleagues, providing editorial guidance and constructive feedback when necessary. He/she will be comfortable working in a newsroom environment under intense pressure and will ensure that fellow team members are meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with The Times’ worldwide network of reporters and editors to create original concepts.
Leading video coverage of politics-related news and events in the field.
Overseeing video and multi-media enterprise projects and series.
Shaping social content and off-platform video.
Occasionally leading breaking news coverage.
Drawing ideas from a range of video sources, including wires, UGC, eye-witness video, archival footage, motion graphics, and custom footage.
Reviewing, critiquing stories.
Guiding and encouraging producers to work to their maximum potential.
Producing original video and experimenting with new video concepts and strategies.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
8+ years producing digital news videos.
Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
Understanding of Times standards of journalistic excellence and truthfulness.
Broad knowledge of current events and news .
