Working within Post Production, the Promo Packaging Editor is primarily responsible for editing and packaging promo campaigns for the EMEA network channels and (as required) any of the other internal client workflows if priorities dictate. This role requires advanced editing skills using Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere. It also involves advanced use of the Adobe After Effects graphics package. Understanding of Broadcast and technical Post Production workflows are a must.

The Promo Packaging Editor will support the Technical Operations Supervisor in providing high levels of customer services to the EMEA Pay TV network channels, as well as other internal clients. The Promo Packaging Editor will be required to highlight any client needs, edit sessions, workflow challenges/efficiencies or technical/operational problems to the Technical Operations Supervisor. This role also includes Quality Assessment work.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and package content according to Discovery tech specs, network style guides and make lists using Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
  • Ensure that all aspects of compliance Codes of Practice relating to the channels and broadcast are observed.
  • Engage with the relevant regional Promo teams to maintain the look and feel of the Discovery channels and provide timely completion of all campaigns.
  • Receive, check and utilize assets of various kinds for edit and packaging work, communicating any issues or missing materials promptly to Promo Edit Bookings, the Promo Edit Coordinators and the Promo Production Manager.
  • Compile all picture and audio elements and check in to Audio department for mixing (Pro Tools).
  • Take delivery of finished audio sessions and upload to relevant cloud folders for Producer approval, as well as back up folders as required.
  • Update department scheduling tool (SchedulALL) as tasks or campaigns are completed.
  • Report any technical problems to the Post Production Engineering team and feedback any issues to the Technical Operations Supervisor.
  • Maintain QC standards of newly created materials.
  • Able to thoroughly carry out metadata entry tasks.
  • An impeccable attention to detail is a must.
  • Methodically and diligently work through production schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring all operational procedures are followed.
  •   Prioritise and deal with queries as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Analyse the current workflow and propose/report anything that can be improved.
  • Log any technical or operational errors experienced on shift.
  • Ad hoc duties.
  • You may be required to work shifts (days, nights and weekends shifts).

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere is absolutely essential.
  • Advanced knowledge and relevant experience of After Effects.
  • Good understanding of compliance regulatory code of practices, the DPP and EBU regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair erroneous content.
  • Basic understanding of the AVID Interplay server is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize and edit in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Technical training and experience in a recognized creative agency, promo team, post facility or media based organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of file based workflows and broadcast technology.
  • Good operational knowledge of editing working within a team environment.
  • Excellent understanding of video and audio theory.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize problems.
  • Decision making skills.
