The BBC Studios One Show Studio producer pool is an opportunity for candidates to express their interest in working for the One Show in London. If accepted into the pool, this does not mean a guaranteed job and successful applicants will not necessarily end up working for BBC Studios.

BBC Studios is the most awarded Production Company and the biggest independent producer in the UK. The Factual Entertainment and Events team produce a wide breadth of content including; The One Show, Top Gear, Dragon’s Den, Celebrity Painting Challenge, Junior Doctors, D Day Celebrations, Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, Antiques Roadshow, Countryfile, Royal Ceremonial Events coverage and much more.

 

We are looking for experienced gallery producers to work on The One Show, BBC One’s flagship live daily magazine programme and related programmes to the One Show.

Successful candidates will combine a deep understanding of The One Show output and BBC Studios editorial values with the creative skill and ideas to produce first class live content and engage our audience in new and exciting ways.

Broadcast every weeknight on BBC One, The One Show covers a mix of content including topical, lifestyle, consumer, current affairs and celebrity chat. The tone ranges from light-hearted to challenging and always strives to tap into national concerns.

The One Show holds a mirror to the UK and is an important platform for the channel to showcase events and moments that unite the nation. The programme plays a vital role in major BBC One events such as Comic Relief, Children in Need and the D-Day Celebrations.   The content is a mix of live studio and pre-recorded VTs with topical/entertaining chat in the studio weaving it all together. Up to 5 million people watch the show every week and its success lies in making The One Show inclusive of the broadest possible audience, embodying the BBC One values. 

We are recruiting for a pool of live producers who will join the team at the one show on a freelance basis, devising programme ideas, working closely with talent, managing a team and running a busy live gallery. 

 

These roles will have a profound influence on the One Show output, encouraging strong ideas that reflect our diverse nation and seeking out opportunities to make each programme better than the last.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced live gallery producer to join the team at the One Show, making creative, entertaining and topical prime-time content for BBC1.
 

Role Responsibility:

  • Live Gallery Producing - experience essential.
  • Creating running orders and writing strong scripts, with minimal supervision.
  • Managing a team of AP and researcher and reporting into the One Show senior team.
  • Development and creation of innovative programme content: the producer will inspire their team to create standout content, from large scale performances and stunts to intimate moments in the studio.
  • Working to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • Managing high level on-screen talent.
  • Partnering with the Social Media team to inspire and facilitate new social media content for our platforms.

The successful candidate will have experience of initiating and delivering creative, ambitious and original ideas and a clear understanding of the One Show audience.
 

Are you the right candidate?

The One Show is a high-profile show under close scrutiny. You will have extensive experience of running a live programme from the gallery and producing standout factual content for a prime-time audience.

You will have a track record outputting entire live shows of at least 30 minutes in duration.

The ability to lead a team and inspire creativity through others is essential, as are good writing skills, sound editorial judgement, management experience on a comparable topical live show, and demonstrable experience of organising and keeping on top of changing schedules in a fast-moving environment with often contentious material.
