Microsoft Consulting Services is expanding the capabilities of our Mixed Reality Studio in London and are looking for passionate and talented people to join our creative journey to transform business with emerging technologies.

Our team works in tight collaboration with external consumer, enterprise, and commercial partners, crafting innovative solutions that leverage both the power of the HoloLens 2, VR, mobile and Mixed Reality, as well as the deep domain expertise of our many customers.

We brainstorm exciting and ground-breaking experiences and quickly build working prototypes on top of developing tech. We transform our ideas into reality, from ideation, through prototyping, to final implementation.
 

Creative Director ~ Mixed Realities Studio - London.

We are looking for a talented Creative Director to partner with the Studio Director and Technical Director to help us craft and deliver innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will enjoy problem solving, communicating ideas and working as part of a creative team developing for HoloLens and VR. The candidate should be comfortable with cutting-edge technologies, as well as beta hardware and software. Able to direct the design of holistic experiences from flows, wireframes, motion studies to visual comps and lead the development of interactive prototypes.

Creative thinking and excellent communication skills are a must. Confident and comfortable presenting ideas to customers and partners. An ability to be the team leader across Design, as well as Art. A team player comfortable mentoring and guiding Designers and Artists with their careers.
 

Responsibilities:

Direction and Leadership:

  • to lead a creative team of 7-10 in London.
  • to communicate strategy across the business with our Redmond based team.
  • to create and present designs, to structure workflows for successful delivery.
  • to be the arbiter of quality.
  • to understand scope.

Create:

  • Lead a team to create prototypes for HoloLens and/or VR (Unity 3D).
  • To understand designing for 3D.
  • Ability to map user journeys and experiences.
  • UX thinking.
  • Story board or Art skills a bonus.
  • Audio direction skills a bonus.

Collaborate - Work across Microsoft’s Mixed Realities Studio, as well as collaborate with other Microsoft teams.

Improve - Offer improvements in proof-of-concept, interactivity, and usability for HoloLens applications and products.

Feedback - Actively seeks out, accepts and provides feedback from peers.

Contribute - contribute across the team and with the client, in various capacities including visual design, wire framing, storyboarding, motion studies, interaction design, and front-end development.

Qualifications:

Qualification - BA/BS in computer science, graphic, visual design, art, or interaction design or similar.

Technical – an excellent understanding of Unity is essential, including 3D development, shaders and C# prototyping. Web development a bonus.

Dynamic - Comfortable in a fast-paced incubation/startup environment and driven by designing and developing world class software/hardware experiences.

Prototyping - Past examples of rapid prototyping user interfaces with limited engineering support. Can rapidly iterate/vet potential art styles (motion, typography, color, human factors) and visualize proposals for the proof of concept.

User-Centric - Have a robust portfolio illustrating creativity and a proficiency of user-centric designs.

Customer - Passionate about creating, communicating, and translating the business needs of the customer. Essential.

Team – Enthusiastic about developing individuals, providing opportunities for team skill development and achieving success through others.

Visual Design – (a bonus) - Demonstrate skills with visual design applications.

Game development – (a bonus) experience across multiple platforms.
