This GSK apprenticeship lasts up to four years and gives you the chance to earn while you learn. We are looking for motivated individuals with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn, who are excited to develop practical and problems solving skills. No prior experience is required as you will be given full training.
You’ll be working towards a BSc (Honours) Packaging Professional, which will be delivered through 3 day block study periods, work-based projects, presentations and on-line study by Sheffield Hallam University
Education required:
- 3 A levels equivalent to 96 UCAS points
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 9-5 (A*-C) including Maths, English Language (not Literature) and a Science
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English.

This Apprenticeship is based at our Worthing site on the South Coast. In Worthing, we are very proud to have been producing oral penicillin antibiotic products for over 60 years!
The Worthing site has a 500+ diverse workforce and is situated about 2 miles from the South Coast and is at the foot of the picturesque South Downs. Approximately 15 miles from the cosmopolitan and cultural city of Brighton & Hove boasting the opportunity to experience country, city and coastal life all in one location. You can also get to London in under 90 minutes by train.

As a Packaging Technology apprentice at GSK Worthing, you will develop practical skills and knowledge which will enable you to become a key member of our team – helping to ensure that we are achieving our environmental sustainability goals while delivering our life-saving medicines to our patients.
You will also attend University, where you will work towards a BSc (Honours) Packaging Professional degree.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be supported by your line manager, an early talent programme manager as well as an apprentice buddy.
What will you do?
Your role might include:
- Supporting the development and design of new packaging materials
- Packaging Sustainability – understanding the impact of our current packaging materials & helping to set the sustainability strategy by identifying new packaging materials.
- Manage progressively larger projects (supported by colleagues) including new product introduction
- Sharing your thoughts and ideas so that we can always be improving how we do things.
- Learning how to resolve packaging issues in GSK sites in the UK and across the world.
- Designing packaging to protect our products during transportation from early stage manufacture to delivery to the patient.
- Looking at ways we can continuously improve our current packaging.
