Do you want to help over 25M monthly users from the scientific community find and use information?
Would you like to design and test new innovative product ideas through collaboration with cross-functional teams?

About our Team:
Our ScienceDirect Design Team partners with development squads in Amsterdam and the UK, producing a wide range of tools and products. Our squads launch small improvements and experiments weekly, working towards our quarterly objectives. We are empowered to contribute ideas and take-on initiatives that require design thinking, data prototyping and collaboration with our end-users.

The role:
As a UX / UI Designer, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional Elsevier design team that will drive ScienceDirect evolution. You will be working within an agile environment on delivery of design, as well as upscaling and improving best practices focusing on complex user experience challenges.

Responsibilities as a UX / UI Designer:

  • Ideate and prototype quickly, and produce detailed design deliverables to ship your designs into production.
  • Collaborate with other designers to align experiences and make the best design decisions.
  • Assist in defining and maintaining the design system.

Requirements needed as a UX / UI Designer:

  • Be able to present a detailed portfolio showing experience designing shipped products and services (not just websites) that meet user needs, product requirements, and business goals.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience conducting and analysing user research and usability testing.
  • Illustrate excellent attention to detail and can produce high-fidelity designs and prototypes using Figma.
  • Be able to build on the work of other designers, using an existing pattern library and contributing to it.
  • Have experience to know how design fits in an Agile environment and can work closely with product managers, developers, and QAs.
  • Be comfortable presenting and explaining the rationale behind designs to your peers.
  • You continuously strengthen your knowledge and skills in everything design and UX related. Share the awesome things you learn with the team

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women, people of colour and people with disabilities are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification.
