Description:

DNEG Feature Animation has been growing over the past couple of years, bringing in the best talent to work on our shows. We aim to compete with the best in the business and our Lighting Technical Artists play an important part in driving the team to success.

In this role you will work directly with lighting supervisors & artists to solve technical issues, support and develop lighting tools and techniques in support of current projects, and to advance the studio's lighting capabilities. You will have the ability to acknowledge, diagnose and resolve issues throughout the production process and help the lighting team achieve artistic and production goals. Working closely with the Technical Directors, Department Supervisors, VFX Supervisors and the Pipeline team, you will assist in integrating and maintaining the lighting pipeline.
 

 Must Have:

  • Feature animation, visual effects, or game industry production experience.
  • Experience with Katana and Renderman.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Lua, etc.).
  • Strong technical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Must have experience collaborating with a team of artists.
  • Solid understanding of a VFX or Feature Animation pipeline.
  • Understanding of modern physically based rendering technology and pipelines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
     

Nice to Have:

  • Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups.
  • Software development experience (Python, C, C++, etc.).
  • Experience lighting, shading and/or compositing.
  • Experience with Nuke.
  • Ability to prototype rapidly and deliver quick solutions.
  • Previous work experience working in a fast paced creative technology environment.
