Junior UX Designer (Nexis Solutions)

You will be working in our Professional part of the business (Nexis Solutions) that creates solutions to information professionals, journalists and risk managers.
We are looking for someone early in their career who is passionate about solving problems and interested in applying Design Thinking approaches to design great digital products.
Location:
This role will be a working from home position until it is deemed safe to work in the office again. Once deemed safe the role will be flexible between working from home and in office however a portion of the week will be required to be in the office for team collaboration.
Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in a design subject (Psychology, UX, HCI, Product Design, Design, Graphic Design, etc discipline) is preferred, but not required
Responsibilities:
Customer (or User) Focus:

Is aware of customer needs through direct or indirect observation (key).

Participates in customer discovery activities with the product team and gives input for solutions.

Leverages research documentation.
-
Regularly reads competitive announcements and keeps up-to-date with market trends.
Creative Problem Solving:
-
Asks the right questions to explore the problem.
-
Iterates and tests solution to check it solves the problem.
-
Under the guidance of others, identifies different creative solutions.
-
Collects feedback from users, other designers and stakeholders.
Product Design:
-
Basic knowledge of Human Factors Engineering and other User-Centered Design methodologies.

Good interaction design skills and attention to detail.
-
Ability to communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale, both verbally and visually, to colleagues and stakeholders.

Deliver/implement basic UCD solutions/processes.
-
Works with existing design patterns and style guides.
Data Driven Analysis & Testing:
-
With support of team, uses data to establish key metrics for projects.

Regularly tests design work with users in partnership with UX Research team.

Iterates research methods based on testing and data analysis.
Technical Skills:
-
Has a knowledge of User design software (Axure, Sketch, Invsion) to basic level.

Thinks carefully about which tools to use for each task.

Has a basic knowledge of the tech stack of the organisation.

Attends training in technical skills.
