Junior Photographic Editor, GQ

Description:

GQ is seeking a Junior Photographic Editor to join their art department. The key purpose of this role is to research and commission photography for GQ’s various content platforms. The successful candidate will work at the heart of a fast-paced, creative and deadline-driven environment, reporting directly to the Photographic Director.

The candidate would be expected to be experienced with a range of picture research criteria, commissioning and editing. This role also requires an excellent level of organisation with an attention to detail when preparing call sheets for shoots, managing fees, bookings and travel, enforcing the Code of Conduct and sourcing locations and props.
 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sourcing the best imagery for all sections of the magazine and online, negotiating rates, getting approvals, collating information for captions & credits, helping to manage the budgets.
• Contributing to a variety of production considerations, from booking travel, organising catering, sourcing locations, to booking stylists/hair & makeup.
• Ensuring all contributors sign up to the appropriate rights management agreements.
• Managing picture deadlines and ensuring the art team have the images they need on time.
• Taking responsibility for correct fashion credits, picture credits and crew credits.
• Contributing to the management of images on GQ’s digital platforms and uploading on the CMS.
• Assisting the design team on images/layouts if required.
   

Essential Skills & Requirements:

• Proficient in Photoshop and InDesign.
• Experience of picture research and shoot production.
• Enthusiasm for art, design and photography.
• Organised and thorough with ability to keep records of a variety of ongoing tasks.
• Highly motivated.
