The Head of UX and Design is a senior leadership role, reporting into the Product Director, with accountability for a suite of Products, initiatives and technologies that are designed to encourage customers to return more frequently, repurchase and engage with more of our channels, products and services.

You will lead a team of highly motivated UX / UI and Creative Design professionals including Design systems, Copy, Prototyping, User Experience design and Creative, with the goal of maximising customer value on and off site (the full end-to-end customer experience).

Your remit will be to ensure that our design, usability and creative solutions differentiate MSMG from other consumer technology platforms and interfaces creating a unique but coherent experience across platforms and touchpoints

Your team will be fully embedded with the Product domains that they support however will be flexible to allow fluid support across any product priorities to meet demand.

You have a key role in partnering and collaborating with product and commercial leaders across MSMG including Product Directors and leads, Technology leadership, Customer Brand and GMs.

You will champion and embed the design system as a key enabler for all product teams across the group.

Your team will produce and document creative designs, wireframe patterns so that they can before used and utilised by other MoneySuperMarket product teams and third parties.

What your daily life will look like:

  • Understand the market, consumer trends and relevant product innovation across industry to drive innovative product solutions for consumer problems. You will apply your knowledge day to day in decision making to cement MSMG as a leader in user centred design.
  • Work closely with the Product Director, provide thought leadership and define strategic direction and compelling design and usability interventions and solutions.
  • Working with the Product Directors and CPTO to input and creatively steer product vision, strategy and design
  • Owning our user experience agenda, driving deep customer understanding and acting as a champion of the customer point of view, holding us accountable to building products that address customer usability needs
  • Champion industry best practice in usability, design and creative techniques and communicate, inform and coach a group of professionals and product teams in new developments, techniques or practices
  • Develop market-leading design system that evolves effectively with shifting platforms and changing product team expectations acting as custodian for our overall design philosophy for MSMG
  • Your team will develop testing solutions through prototypes, moderated and unmoderated research (led by UX designers)
  • Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to your team and to the wider product community
  • Own the KPIs and metrics that matter for your product area, working closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure success and value of the suite of products can be measured

What do we need from you?

  • A thorough and up-to-date understanding of the digital landscape to provide cutting-edge creative, technical and strategic solutions for our Products
  • Broad and deep knowledge and experience of user experience design, brand, web and native app design, email design, display advertising and offline advertising
  • Proven track record as operating in a lean agile development environment
  • A deep level of comfort with data and analytics to inform and influence design decisions
  • HCI qualification or proven usability industry experience
  • Proven delivery of commercial and customer value in an equivalent level product role in a comparable digital technology/ecommerce environment 
  • Huge bias for action, willingness to roll up sleeves and get things done, no matter what the obstacles 
  • Strong analytical skills combined with creative problem solving to identify new product opportunities and where to fix customer pain points 
  • Huge attention to detail and comfortable using data to make clear decisions, backed by evidence 
  • A natural collaborator, able to work fluidly with multiple stakeholders across technology, commercial and marketing and bring together their different viewpoints into a cohesive vision for the product 
  • An instinctive problem-solver, who demonstrates high judgement and is endlessly curious  
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and demonstrate resilience if priorities or focus change 
  • Able to balance commercial priorities with progressing against a longer-term strategic vision 
  • Strong design sensibility, with an eye for good user experience and adept at listening to, and acting on, user feedback
