The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating compelling, informative, and shareable content that will achieve the greatest reach with our internal and external audiences. This includes conceptualizing, developing and executing creative design solutions for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, as they align with the Communication and Public Affairs division and the Disney brand. Expertise and experience in graphic design and photography are required for this role. An emphasis on creative innovation for the production of various print and digital designs-in numerous mediums and disciplines-must be applied to a wide-range of communication vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Support internal and external digital and print media design for all Creative Services projects including work for DPEP Public Affairs. Design collateral that is engaging and provides the right solutions for the communication goals.
  • Assist Creative Services Manager with creative aspects of design process, from initial review of comps to helping to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Execute photo shoots from start to finish by understanding client direction and expectations, art directing and handling post-production.
  • Provide design direction/feedback to design team members, freelance graphic designers and interns.
  • Work with printers to explore options that ensure a quality product is produced including understanding their capabilities and attending press checks.
  • Enter information into project management system and verify that entries of all assigned projects are accurate, timely and written to support business needs.
  • Demonstrate innovation, creativity and thoughtful integration.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Resort-wide clients/partners, team members, Segment partners and external vendors.
  • Keep current on the various communication audiences to better understand their preferences and how to create collateral that will best communicate to them.
  • Stay up-to-date on latest industry standards and trends for programs, hardware and design to better develop creative and innovative ways to make collateral pieces visually engaging, including attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of experience in the graphic design field.
  • Demonstrate mastery of Macs and the Adobe Creative Suite of products.
  • Expertise in design methodology, design thinking, and design research.
  • Demonstrate strong creative and original thinker.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a group (i.e. across multiple lines of business) as well as independently with little supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Requires a natural curiosity for the Disney Brand.
  • Ability to adapt to different work styles.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail.
  • Solution-oriented.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work within a deadline-oriented environment.
  • General knowledge of technology within the design field.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. Travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience producing compelling and contemporary graphic designs and page layouts for publication and digital media.
  • Advanced sensibilities in branding and style guide development for best selection of art elements, font treatments, color and tonality.
  • Broad understanding of the role of design in society, culture, and business.
  • Demonstrated presentation/keynote, logo development, illustration and photography skills.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization.
     

Required Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, or experience that is commensurate to fulfill the role.
