Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Graphic Designer whose portfolio demonstrates excellence in visual design and a capacity to solve complex ideas with simple solutions.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in both UI design for web and mobile platforms, and producing an array of digital marketing materials to support marketing and sales teams for our website, social media and events. A keen interest in innovation and storytelling; a curious, creative, proactive mindset is what we are looking for.

You will have experience of Adobe CC, Sketch and InVision, and an excellent understanding of typography, colours, layout and presentation. You know how to create a consistent visual language that is beautiful, stylish, recognizable and usable!

As part of our Creative team, you will help shape our brand, contribute to ensuring our family of products have a clear visual identity, support multiple internal teams, and work on a variety of client projects across the business, including some big name brands.

We are a tight-knit and eclectic team who love to learn and share ideas. We offer training on request, and encourage creative thinking and collaboration on projects to enhance our creative knowledge. As a company we work with data analytics, and as Creative’s we like to push boundaries and question the norm.

What you’ll be doing

Our Creative Team supports all areas of the business from final client project outputs to internal team design support. This role will be split between visual communications for Marketing and Sales, and UI design for Product and Bespoke Analytics projects, but will also be required to help out with ad-hoc internal support requests. Bespoke Analytics & Product teams:

  • Working with Product/Project Managers to define existing problems and refine the products that we build
  • Creating visual designs that effectively communicate product function and brand identity, illustrations, including the design of screen layouts, colour palettes, typography, user interface elements and icons
  • Collaborating with the product teams to create prototype and user interfaces that are aligned with the products design language
  • Meeting regularly with Creative team designers to align ideas and produce high-quality UI component guidelines and standards
  • Providing design consultation for data visualisation projects using 3rd-party charting tools and producing custom project illustrations to provide guidance
  • Designing Training documentation and diagram illustrations

Marketing, Sales & Internal team support:

  • Producing visual communications for Event materials, i.e. Banners & stands, Posters, Invitations, Email templates
  • Producing regular imagery for online, i.e. Website banners, Blog post headers, Social media imagery
  • Producing options for Marketing materials for both print and digital downloads, i.e. Brochures, Flyers, Leaflets
  • Illustrating icons, diagrams & infographics for documentation and presentations • Assisting with motion graphics & editing for Marketing videos
  • Providing design consultation for/producing HR materials, i.e. Business cards, Booklets, Documentation design, Email templates & imagery, Job descriptions, Branded collateral
  • Designing for our Office, i.e. Wall graphics, Posters, Office signage, Office interior design considerations
  • Regularly reviewing and contributing to our Brand guidelines

What technologies you’ll use

  • Adobe CC
  • Visual communication: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

What we look for

Knowledge

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, Product, Industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Experienced with Sketch, Invision, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop or any counterpart (Essential)
  • A strong understanding of how brands are expressed in digital and print form, and integrated across multiple platforms
  • Up-to-date with the latest digital and print design trends, techniques and technologies
  • An understanding of how front-end development technology limitations can affect how to consider UI design

Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience designing for web platforms and digital (Essential)
  • Must have a strong online portfolio demonstrating:
    • Ability to design clean and intuitive UI designs from full life-cycle applications to incremental improvement of existing products
    • A variety of examples of marketing materials and digital illustrations and assets
  • UI design experience producing high-quality mock-ups and prototypes based on wireframes (Essential)
  • Experience with visualising data, or visually presenting data/analytics in a visually appealing / infographic context (Desirable)
  • Experience working with Product and Engineering Teams and Agile/Scrum development process would be a bonus
  • Experience working on front-end development (HTML, CSS, SCSS, JS) would be a bonus
  • Experience with Motion Graphics would be a bonus

Skills

  • Pixel perfect attention to detail - Excellent Layout, Typography, illustration and data visualization skills
  • Excellent visual and information design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders
  • Adeptness with leading design software packages
  • Ability to juggle a number of tasks at once and consistently deliver high-quality work to timescale
  • Willingness to listen to feedback, and clearly communicate design rationale and conceptual ideas during iterative design cycles
  • Motivation to maintain and improve Creative team design standards, and a determination to achieve and succeed
