Freelance Designer (Contract Position – 6 Months)

Description:

This role is a freelance or contract opportunity for 6 months, based in the Columbus, Ohio corporate office.

The Designer is responsible for designing new concepts and designs for a product category within defined theme and seasons from concept through final delivery. Presents and delivers brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy; encompassing style, color/print and graphic design for new/existing product lines. Researches and interprets fashion trends and consumer needs that uphold the integrity of the product lines/brand.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conceptualize and design multiple creative solutions.
• Assist in the creation and execution of final designs.
• Create Design Turn Overs (DTO) and finalize artwork for hand-off to the Production Team Order.
• Review mechanical art work for final design approval prior to release.
• Support Senior Designers and Designers to create concept and design options for their category/ies.
• Update design board layouts and printouts, including concept boards.
• Assist in researching trends and patterns for upcoming seasons.
• Provide approved designs and design direction to mechanical art team for development of technical specifications.
• Assist in photo shoots as needed.
 

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor degree in Design or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 – 6 years of prior experience in 2D design, Illustration and graphic/product design e.g. personal care.
• Strong sense of design, typography and color plus demonstrated expertise in 2D label or graphic design.
• Strong level of creativity, conceptualization, execution, organization and design skills.
• Drawing and computer illustration skills – Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills are required.
• Fundamental experience and/or knowledge of design with photography.
• Strong fashion sense with ability to translate into graphic design.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborate design environment
• Solid communication and presentation skills.
• Store visits and/or customer insights focus groups.
