Editor - MyLondon
We are looking for a new Editor to join our brilliant team at MyLondon, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to run the MyLondon site.
Since its launch at the end of 2018 the site has become one of the country’s biggest and most viewed regional websites.
In the role you will be responsible for taking the lead on the biggest stories impacting London, ensuring best use of copy and have a senior role in shaping and setting the news agenda.
We are looking for an experienced journalist who can lead a team of reporters, as well as pinpointing emerging news trends, managing breaking news and taking charge of exclusive stories across our core subject matters in a rewarding and varied role.
In this role you will also ensure MyLondon covers topics that matter the most to Londoners and make sure we represent the many diverse communities across the capital. You will also be brilliant at motivating people and coming up with great ideas.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
What will the role involve?
You will oversee the editorial team to achieve digital audience growth and engagement targets, ensuring that resources at all levels in the newsroom are clearly focused and managed as effectively as possible to deliver digital targets.
Creating an environment that encourages new ideas for digital content that will drive audience growth and engagement while ensuring that enhanced planning processes are thoroughly embedded in the newsroom and enable us to drive audience growth and commercial performance.
You will be responsible for ensuring effective use of social media tools by newsroom staff, acting as brand champion of our news brands while playing an ambassadorial role for MyLondon and the business as a whole, in person and via social media.
You will develop a culture of trust, where people are safe to speak up, clear on their role in the team’s success and empowered to be their best at work.
The Ideal Candidate:
Who are we looking for?
An experienced people manager and journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and exceptional media law knowledge who can ensure all content is legally and IPSO compliant.
You will be a capable, assured and experienced digital media expert and will ideally have experience working at a national or regional level. You will manage a talented, driven team with ease, and be able to support and direct in a pressured environment.
You have a sharp eye for a story and are ready to make necessary choices, with the ability and personality to inspire and motivate the team. You have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news along with a genuine passion for breaking stories and to present them in the best possible way across multiple platforms.
