The Position:

In this role, you will work with senior leadership to shape the design vision across Twitter’s platform and infrastructure teams, and will build alignment on priorities leading to design execution and design excellence. You will bring a combination of strong management experience, team investment, ‘design thinking’ methodologies, design systems knowledge, talent, expertise, and innovative product insights to the role. You’ll balance a rigorous user-centric perspective with the ability to make bold decisions and move product design forward in a fast-paced development environment.

You will foster cross-functional and cross product area collaboration and consistency by working closely with product managers and engineers to shape the vision and define the roadmap for our products. You will partner with our Research team to find opportunities and integrate user insights into product strategy and design. You will always champion user experience, product consistency, and design excellence.

Best of all, you will also captain a team of product designers focused on creating user-centered internal tools that can both scale as our business evolves and give our engineering teams confidence that they are solving the right problems. You will be responsible for building and mentoring an impactful, diverse, and multidisciplinary team of exceptional designers.


You are a business-oriented design leader who has shipped internal and/or enterprise products at scale. You love leading projects that advise strategic direction, being an active contributor in critiques and cross-functional reviews, and can proactively identify and pursue new opportunities for investment. You are excited to build and refine a vision for your team’s future. You are a master at designing simple, easy-to-use, well crafted products that provide value to our customers. You can move fluidly between product and systems projects.

You understand the importance of marrying customer insights (for both external and internal customers) with business goals, and cultural context. You consistently set a higher standard for creativity, craft, quality, rigor, and documentation. You love working closely with developer communities and engineers, and enjoy providing them with the best possible platform to create products for Twitter users.

Required Competencies:

  • 12-15+ years of proven experience in a fast-paced and dynamic cross functional environment
  • Expert in product design, user interface and interaction design, visual and motion design, storytelling, and prototyping
  • Has a deep understanding of information design and data visualization
  • Has a record of leading large-scoped projects that deliver business impact
  • Has experience partnering cross functionally to implement effectively
  • Has demonstrated experience in driving large-scale changes at an organization
  • Experience in leading a team to deliver on design skills, product contributions, and customer focus
  • Able to facilitate creative workshops, crits, and design reviews with partners
  • Works at a high standard of creativity, craft, and quality, at a high velocity
  • Consistently demonstrates a strong understanding of customer needs and motivations
  • Experience working with design peers across multiple product areas while collaborating effectively with engineering managers, product leaders, and researchers
  • Experience with the creation of design systems and componentization
  • Has a diverse portfolio that reflects design excellence.
