As one of our Digital Product Owners you'll play a key role to maximise the value the product creates for Halfords Group by defining the Roadmap, priorities and clarity of the outcomes expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the voice of the customer.
  • Work with internal and external customers to understand customer needs.
  • Carry out detailed analysis of the business/customer needs, requirements, impact, scope, risks, and benefits.
  • Own the product roadmap and ensure it aligns product roadmap to strategic goals.
  • Determine scope and direct the team in terms of epics and features to guide the scrum team.
  • Bring to life what change is required and what outcomes we are trying to achieve.
  • Develop appropriately detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the delivery/scrum team to develop the BDD scenarios create for the user stories that are aligned to the overall delivery of epics.
  • Play an active role during the sprint planning meeting in clarifying the requirements and defining the sub tasks that need to be carried out to deliver the user story.
  • Solve product-related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
  • Draft key objectives and results, strategies and apply the data for the product to make business decisions.
  • Track and report on benefits realisation versus key objectives and forecasts.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product.
  • Understand customer value to in order to prioritise stories, epics and themes to ensure we focus on the changes that will deliver maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriately prioritised backlog of user stories for implementation.
  • Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.
  • Lead the consultation process with the Product Council stakeholders when presenting new ideas and sharing transparency of the product backlog.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent knowledge of agile scrum methodology and practices.
  • Able to apply agile analysis techniques specifically for defining and creating user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience in using analysis tools & techniques including wireframes and business process modelling.
  • Good level of understanding of technical terminology and preferably experience of working in a technical/e-commerce environment.
  • Good understanding of software development practices and web/mobile technologies.
  • Experience of using work management tools such as Jira, Trello & Confluence.
  • Able to produce high quality supporting artefacts to assist the team in development of the feature.
  • Demonstrable ability to take ownership and make decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Proactive in problem solving and ensuring the right people are involved.
  • Able to facilitate meeting (e.g. lead workshops to elicit requirements) within business and technical teams.
  • Act as a liaison between the business stakeholders and technical delivery teams translating concepts into language that is easily understood by both parties.
  • Strong communication skills with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong team working and collaboration skills within scrum team.

Flexible work from home options available but some travel to our support centre will be required at times.
