You’ll be passionate about all things digital and have experience of developing and collaborating on audience-centred, inspiring and informative content on websites, blogs, and microsites.
What does a day in the life of a Digital Content Editor look like?
- Create website content in the most engaging, accessible format.
- Prioritise user need, conducting user testing when needed.
- Base content decisions on sound analytics and search engine optimisation (SEO) data.
- Make recommendations for the creation of new content that either helps people in crisis or engages our supporters.
- Take responsibility for the accuracy of content, ensuring it is approved, and work with stakeholders to create and update it as needed.
- Make day-to-day changes, ranging from phone numbers and email addresses to information for supporters and people affected during an emergency appeal.
To be a successful Digital Content Editor you will:
- Have a background in developing inspiring and engaging user-centred content, and in digital storytelling.
- Understand SEO best practice and techniques.
- Have demonstrable knowledge of UX principles and web accessibility.
- Have experience using content management systems.
- As an experienced content writer, you will also be confident in training colleagues across the organisation on best practice principles.
- Have proven experience of working with Google Analytics and take a data-driven approach to content, constantly looking to improve performance, updating teams on what’s working and where we can optimise.
- You will be skilled at working alongside multiple stakeholders, with a keen eye for detail.
- Feel comfortable working as a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach, to create the best content.
- You will be able to prioritise your workload, taking and completing jobs from a live backlog across the site with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- You will have a sincere interest in the work of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and be able to share this with our online audiences.
