In the UK, BBC Studios enables audiences to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes and brands outside the licence fee-funded window on alternative platforms, through a range of partnerships, and in multiple formats, from products and magazines to events and experiences.

The purpose of this role is to maximise BBC Studios creative use of digital channels in corporate communications, engaging with audiences, promoting our content, talent, partnerships and services and protecting the company’s reputation.

The Communications Specialist - Digital role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of and creating content for BBCStudios.com and social media channels. The role will deliver digital communications to effectively engage the global creative industry, consumers and other audiences, land key messages and support the corporate strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team where you will be telling the story of BBC Studios and our content. At a time when we are experiencing a golden age of television, with BBC Studios and its partners developing, producing or financing over 2500 hours a year, you will get to be at the heart of it all. This role will see you delivering varied work with a range of partners across the business and wider BBC.

This will include drafting and editing case studies and blogs, securing the necessary approvals. You’ll work closely with the Head of Communications on the overall website development strategy.

You will support the Head of Communications on the overall social media strategy development and delivery, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and other social media.

You will devise and deliver campaigns for key events and programmes, including Showcase and the Annual Review, identifying key talent and partners to engage with where appropriate.

You’ll liaise with BBC Studios marketing and BBC marketing, as well as BBC Studios Communications teams to comply assets and/or create new ones.

Are you the right candidate?

You will demonstrate a good standard of web and multimedia production skills to produce and edit rich content for websites. You’ll have the ability to establish and maintain credibility and effective working relationships with a wide range of contacts, as well as the ability to influence and advise stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team and lead on projects while also being able to work autonomously. Experience of using social media for promoting content and news stories is essential in this role. You will have strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. You’ll be proactive, with an eye for identifying potential challenges and solving problems accordingly. About the BBC:

The BBC is committed to building a culturally diverse workforce and therefore strongly encourages applications from under represented groups.  We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of their background.

BBC Studios, a global content company with British creativity at its heart, is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC Group. Formed in April 2018 by the merger of BBC Worldwide and BBC Studios, it spans content financing, development, production, sales, branded services and ancillaries. BBC Studios’ award-winning British programmes are internationally recognised across a broad range of genres and specialisms. It has offices in 22 markets globally, including six production bases in the UK and production bases and partnerships in a further nine countries around the world. The company, which makes 2500 hours of content a year, is a champion for British creativity around the world and a committed partner for the UK’s independent sector. BBC Studios has revenue of £1.4bn, and returns around £200m to the BBC Group annually, complementing the BBC’s licence fee and enhancing programmes for UK audiences.

Diversity matters at the BBC.  We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles.  The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences.
