The Telegraph is launching a new graduate scheme for BA, MA and HND Design Graduates, to join us on a 2 year programme starting in September 2019.

Presenting a unique chance to join one of UK’s most reputable design departments, the successful candidate will gain experience in three of our six design disciplines throughout the 2 year programme, working closely with the teams responsible for The Telegraph’s print and digital platforms. As the number-one quality newsbrand, The Telegraph delivers trusted, award-winning journalism that inspires people to progress in life.

Our Teams:

Newsprint Design

The newsprint design team creates compelling page layouts that help tell our stories. Situated at the heart of the newsroom, you’ll work with editors across a range of desks, from news and sport to food and gardening. From designing the front page of the newspaper to commissioning illustrations or debating which picture is the most compelling, you’ll need to respond to all the challenges the world throws at you.

Graphic Journalism

Graphic journalists communicate complex narratives and information in simple, accessible and engaging visuals. Your projects will vary greatly, depending on the content or concept at hand, whether that’s creating a series of icons for topics in a story or composing vast data sets into meaningful information graphics.

Magazines

Our award-winning magazines feature the latest in fashion, lifestyle, luxury, culture and current affairs. The design team provides creative suggestions for photographic and illustrative commissions, and supports the art desk to ensure The Telegraph’s content is powerfully projected online. You’ll collaborate with picture editors, researchers, stylists and sub-editors to further bolster our magazines’ success.

Emerging Formats

Dubbed ‘the experimental room’, this department’s aim is brand awareness and core engagement for readers aged 18–24. The emerging formats team works on daily animations and illustrations for Snapchat, The Telegraph’s website and app, weekly print columns, mini film series and ad campaigns for our new audiences.

Marketing and Brand Design

The marketing and brand design team is The Telegraph’s in-house creative studio, and its mission is to promote our commercial products. Whenever we engage with our customers, the design team’s task is to guarantee that the message is efficient, relevant and on brand. You’ll meet this challenge by designing creative marketing materials that draw the attention of our audience to the vast range of services and products we offer.

Product Design

The digital product design team is a multidisciplinary entity of designers, developers and researchers working on products used every day by millions of people. Experimentation and learning are at the core of the product design team. As technology transforms the publishing industry, you’ll strive for consistency, quality and integrity of user experience across all you do.

Your Skills:

  • Art school/University background in a Design related subject (BA, MA or HND level)
  • Positive attitude
  • Problem solver
  • A passion for all things design
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment, working as part of a team
  • Be interested in current affairs and have a passion for telling stories
  • Be energetic, have an appetite for experimentation and a good sense of fun
  • A keen eye on current design trends
